PURPOSE: An authentication apparatus and method capable of distinguishing password error type and a door-lock device using the same are provided to prevent an illegal intrusion by determining whether the cause of a wrong input code is a simple mistake or the illegal intrusion. CONSTITUTION: A calculation unit(210) calculates the similarity between an input code and a pre-set authentication code. If the similarity is more than a reference value, an error determination unit(220) determines that the error of the input code is caused by a simple mistake. If the similarity is less than the reference value, the error determination unit determines that the error of the input code is caused by an illegal intrusion.
