PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple low-odor rust-preventive agent which contains no nitrite, does not contain or form environmental pollutants and substances harmful to humans, is therefore safe, can exhibit full rust-preventive effect just after use, can exhibit not only rust-preventive effect but also corrosion-preventive effect on iron products made of, cast iron or the like and non-ferrous products, and can be simply produced in a large quantity. SOLUTION: The rust-preventive agent contains a volatile rust-preventive component selected from a carbonate of 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol and a carbonate of hexamethylenediamine.
