PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a "disk drive" which can reliably clamp a disk by using clampers, and can prevent slips from developing between the disk and the turntable when turning the disk. SOLUTION: The clampers 201 formed in the rotating member 82 are biased by torsion springs in theαdirection and pressed to the periphery of the center hole Da of the disk D. When starting to turn the rotating member 82, the spindle motor is driven in the directionβ2 reverse to the normal direction (β1 direction), then switched to turn in the normal direction. By turning the member 82 in theβ2 direction, the clampers 201 obtain torque in theαdirection to increase their clamp power.
