[Also in Division H2] A fitting for attachment in an aperture comprises a bush of resiliently deformable material with a circumferential groove on its external surface to receive the edges of the aperture with a limited degree of lateral movement, and a pin (formed as a plug or socket contact (see Division H2)) which can be forced into the bore of the bush and retained therein. Fig. 3 shows a bush 31 of P.T.F.E. having a cylindrical part 33 larger than aperture 34 in a member A, a tapered groove 35 the thicker end of which has a diameter less than aperture 34 and a tapered part 36 the thick end being larger than the aperture but able to be forced through. The pin 32 is forced into the bore 37 of the bush, which is first passed through the aperture, so that the enlargement 41 swells the end part 36 of the bush so that it no longer can pass through the aperture, the tapered groove being deformed into a cylindrical form (Fig. 4). In Figs. 1, 2 (not shown), a number of these fittings are attached to plates having apertures to form multi-core cable plugs and sockets. It is not necessary for both the plug and socket to have pins having freedom of lateral movement (Fig. 5, not shown), and to prevent relative movement between the bodies a few pairs of both pins may be rigidly fixed.
