<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling the pressure of a variable displacement oxygen compressor capable of reducing the power consumption and stably operating a whole oxygen demand and supply plant. Ž<P>SOLUTION: One or more variable displacement oxygen compressors each having a displacement control function are disposed in the oxygen demand and supply plant. The pressure of the high-pressure oxygen contained in an oxygen holder which is disposed on the discharge side of the variable displacement oxygen compressor is measured. When the pressure of the high-pressure oxygen exceeds a threshold α, the displacement of the variable displacement oxygen compressor is reduced, and the pressure of the low-pressure oxygen which is supplied to the variable displacement oxygen compressor is measured. When the pressure of the low-pressure oxygen exceeds a threshold β, the low-pressure oxygen is dissipated to lower the pressure of the high-pressure oxygen to the threshold α or below.
