PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method for high-purity boron trichloride simultaneously reduced both of phosgene and chlorine. SOLUTION: The production method includes a process of carrying boric acid on activated carbon by adding activated carbon to 20-32 mass% of a boric acid aqueous solution, a process of obtaining diboron trioxide-carrying activated carbon substantially containing no metaboric acid by contacting the boric acid-carrying activated carbon with an inert gas under heating, a process of obtaining boron trichloride by reacting the diboron trioxide-carrying activated carbon with a chlorine gas, and a process of reacting the boron trichloride with a boronized carbon compound.
