The device has an opening (7) through which a textile flat ribbon (3) is penetrated, where the opening comprises folding edges (8, 9), which cooperate with front boundary edges (K, K') of a label (2) e.g. plastic foil, in a penetrated direction (D) of the flat ribbon. Boundary edge regions (10, 11) are formed in a transport direction of the flat ribbon in running manner, where the boundary edge regions are opposite the folding edges. The folding edges are provided with a small curvature and a stronger curvature in the penetration direction.
