PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retaining wall which increase back earth pressure resistance, which hardly causes the displacement and inclination of an upper block even when the back earth on a slope is depressed, and which improves a balance with a reaction force generated at a toe and a heel. SOLUTION: A block 1 for the retaining wall includes: a vertically erected surface plate 2; an anchor plate 3 which is erected lower than the surface plate 2 by being inclined in such a manner that an upside is inclined backward; and a pair of tie plates 4 and 4 which are erected lower than the surface plate 2 and which connect the surface plate 2 and the anchor plate 3 together. The blocks 1 are installed in such a manner as to be arranged from side to side in the front positions of the slope 10. One step is constituted by infilling a filling material 17 up to the upper end level of the surface plate 2 between the surface plate 2 and the anchor plate 3, and infilling a back-filling material 18 up to the upper end level of the surface plate 2 between the anchor plate 3 and the back earth 15 of the slope 10. The retaining wall is constructed by making the next step constituted on the filling material 17 and back-filling material 18 of the above step without abutting on upper ends of the anchor plate 3 and tie plates 4 and 4 of the above step.
