The invention relates to a method for monitoring the concentration of a halogenated disinfectant in a swimming pool or the like and to a device for implementing this method. According to the invention, the method comprises: - a step of injecting the liquid to be analyzed into the analysis chamber; a step of injecting a coloured reactant into the analysis chamber; a step of colorimetrically measuring the liquid/reactant mixture; a step of processing the measurement in relation to data; and a step of verifying the colorimetric measurement when the measurement corresponds to a case in which the reactant is bleached or to a case in which there is no reaction colour.
