The method involves applying a starting voltage on an electrode (11) by a generator in order to cause flash-over between a workpiece surface (13) of an electrically conductive workpiece (5) i.e. roller, and the electrode, where the starting voltage is greater than or equal to 300 Volt. A dielectric (9) is provided between the workpiece surface and the electrode. The distance of the electrode from the workpiece surface is adjusted by displacement of a movable holder (15), where the electrode is mounted on the movable holder. An independent claim is also included for a device for execution of a method for electric-discharge surface processing of electrically conductive workpieces, comprising a group of electrodes.
