PURPOSE:To secure the fixed composition plane space regardless of dimensional errors so as to facilitate the dimensional control and the manufacture of a metal gasket used for the sealing between members to be connected by means of a bead formed on a substrate made of an elastic metal plate in the state of surrounding a part to be sealed by providing a separate compensating plate of the fixed thickness to be laminated if requested. CONSTITUTION:In a metal gasket 2 performing the sealing between members to be connected by means of a bead 18 formed at a substrate 4 surrounding a part to be sealed, a sub-plate 6 of t2 thickness with a turned-up part 24 formed turning up the end edge 6e on the combustion chamber pore side toward the outside of the combustion chamber pore is laminated on a substrate made of an elastic metal plate of t1 thickness. A separate compensating plate 8 of t3 in the fixed thickness to be laminated if requested is provided at the metal gasket 2 thus laminated and constructed, and thereby the dimensional error of the members to connected is absorbed and compensated so as to secure the fixed composition plane space. The metal gasket is also used, for instance, for the sealing between the deck planes of the cylinder head and the cylinder block of an internal combustion engine. |
