When a whole page of a newspaper, a magazine, or the like is displayed using layered data (380), a guided region (392) (represented by a line segment (386) in the layered data (380)) for each article is set in a scenario setting file.  In a lower layer, that is, a layer having a degree of resolution that characters are legible, multiple guided regions (394, 396 )(represented by respective line segments 388 and 390) are set so that the user can follow the article from the beginning to the end.  When an instruction to enlarge the displayed image is issued by the user, the displayed image is guided firstly to the guided region (392) (arrow F).  When a further instruction to enlarge the image is issued by the user, the displayed image is guided secondly to the guided region (394) which is the beginning of the article (arrow G).  When the user reads the text in the guided region (394) and presses a button for indicating a direction or a predetermined button, the current image is guided to the guided region (396) where the subsequent text is written (arrow H).
