<p>PURPOSE: An image processing apparatus and a method to process an image are provided, which apply a proper gamma if a saturation region is detected from image, take an image of a proper brightness which is not-saturated in a bright outdoor. CONSTITUTION: A luminance value corresponding to a gradation value of an input image is set in the first gamma table(205). A luminance value corresponding to gradation value of the input image is set in the second gamma table(207). The luminance value of the first gamma table and luminance value of the second gamma table is different from each other. A gamma compensation unit(203) revises a luminance of an input video signal of an image sensor(201) through the first gamma table. If saturation area is detected from a compensated image, the gamma corrector re-compensates the luminance of image through the luminance value of the second gamma table.</p> |
