<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently detect a shift of an imaging apparatus in the direction of an optical axis, in an optical axis detector for detecting the shifts of the optical axes of the plurality of imaging apparatuses for capturing images. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The optical axis detector includes: a recognition means for recognizing a plurality of types of targets disposed in front of the imaging apparatus; and a detection means for detecting a shift of the optical axis based on a position at which the target is recognized. The recognition means includes: a plurality of types of search means for selecting a pixel set in a portion of the captured image among pixels in the captured image captured by the imaging apparatus, and searching the pixel set having the maximum or minimum calculation result based on a calculation for adding and subtracting intensities of the pixels within the pixel set in the portion, and recognizes the target, based on the maximum or minimum value searched by the search means.
