CIRCUIT AND METHOD FOR LIMITING LEAKAGE CURRENT IN MEMORY CIRCUIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small and easily integrated current limiting circuit, wherein the leakage current of an integrated circuit is limited in standby mode.

SOLUTION: The current limiting circuit 70 controls the leakage current of a memory circuit 24 of a portable wireless device 10 while operating in standby mode. A first semiconductor well 64 isolates memory circuits 24 that is disposed in a second semiconductor well 66. In the standby mode, the current limiting circuit is switched to a nonconductive mode to limit leakage currents of a diode which is formed of the second semiconductor well 64 and the first semiconductor well 66 and a diode which is formed of a substrate 62 and the second semiconductor well 64.
