<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb filter in which partition walls are provided with PM collection layers having pores of a small average pore diameter and coated with a catalyst, whereby a high soot burning speed can be obtained while obtaining an effect of suppressing the increase of a pressure loss and the regeneration efficiency is improved, and which can cope with the cleaning of the exhaust gas to be generated when an engine is driven in a high-load high-speed running mode while improving the regeneration efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The honeycomb filter is a catalyst-deposited filter made of a base material of a honeycomb structure including a plurality of cells being channels of the exhaust gas which are partitioned by the partition walls made of a porous ceramic material having a large number of pores 5. The catalyst-deposited filter includes plugging portions formed by alternately plugging one opening end and the other opening end of each of the plurality of cells. The partition walls 4 are provided with PM collection layers 20 having pores of the average pore diameter smaller than that of the pores of the partition wall and coated with the catalyst 15 without coating a portion including the surface of the PM collection layer 20 with the catalyst. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
