A vaccine for immunizing dogs against infectious canine hepatitis comprises an apathogenic, avirulent, living, duck-embryo-modified infectious canine hepatitis virus (I.C.H.). Modified I.C.H. is produced by serially passing pathogenic and virulent I.C.H. virus through duck embryos a plurality of times and especially at least 37 times. Preferably the I.C.H. virus is serially passed successively through ferrets a plurality of times and through duck embryos a plurality of times. The above vaccine may be mixed with a living, chickembryo-modified, canine distemper virus. The vaccines may be mixed with a stabilizing menstruum containing sucrose and casein hydrolysate. Compatible bacterial antigens such as inactivated cultures of Leptospirae, Streptococci, Salmonella and Brucellae may also be present. |
