PURPOSE: A mobile terminal and a method for providing instant message service in a mobile terminal are provided to store conversation content in an instant message mode to provide the stored conversation contents to a new participant. CONSTITUTION: A mobile terminal participates an instant message mode(S202). The mobile terminal request a transmission of stores conversation contents of the other terminal while participating in the instant message mode(S203). The mobile terminal receives the stores conversation contents of the other terminal(S204). The mobile terminal displays instant message mode participant information of the time information or predetermined timing about the conversation contents(S205).
