The magazine has a movably supported cover element (12) for closing a suction air channel (13). The cover element selectively, manually or automatically actuated, and mechanically locks thread ends of spinning cops at a closed condition. The cover element consists of a hand actuating cover (20) and an automatic cover (19). The two covers are separately actuated. A nut-shaped recess (22) is included in an upper side (21) of the actuating cover and forms an air-and-thread guiding channel, which is attached to the suction air channel. The guiding channel is closed by the automatic cover.
