A bodily fluid absorptive wearing article (10) including a body (10a) having stretchable first and second waist regions (13, 14), wherein an elastic waist band (28), which is a separate member from a member which forms the first waist region (13), is mounted to at least an end section (18a) of the first waist region (13).  The elastic waist band (28) comprises laterally stretchable strand-shaped elastic stretchable members (32) mounted to the inside of a laterally extending sleeve (30a) formed by folding a portion of a non-stretchable sheet (30).  The elastic waist band (28) is, after the body (10a) is formed, mounted in a laterally stretched state to the first waist region (13) on the side thereof which does not make contact with the wearer's skin.
