PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detection device provided with display function without impairing transmittance and slenderness.

SOLUTION: The position detection device includes: a first electrode 102 formed of a transparent conductive film; a second electrode 310; a display material 311 provided to be interposed between the first and second electrodes 102 and 310; a display part 505 which can retain a display state even after supply of driving power to between the first and second electrodes 102 and 310 is stopped; a display drive part 502 which performs display drive of the display part 505 based on a signal to be displayed; and a position detection part 503 which detects an instructed position on the first electrode 102 by an instruction body 103 and outputs a detection signal.
