<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video signal processor capable of improving contrast and enhancing an image quality by selectively adjusting luminance based on a video signal, as well as a video signal processing method, a program and a display device related thereto. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The video signal processor includes: a first color space converting section for outputting a hue signal, a saturation signal and a first luminance signal for each pixel based on an input video signal consisting of an R signal, a G signal and a B signal; a first control value setting section for setting a first control value which defines a second control value according to the saturation signal based on the hue signal for each pixel; a second control value setting section for setting the second control value based on the saturation signal and the first control value for each pixel; a luminance adjusting section for adjusting the first luminance signal based on the first luminance signal for each pixel and the second control value and outputting an adjusted second luminance signal; and a second color space converting section for converting the color space based on the hue signal, the saturation signal and the second luminance signal, and outputting an output video signal consisting of an R signal, a G signal and a B signal.
