发明名称 Sliver coiling mechanism
摘要 983,097. Coiling and measuring sliver; stop-motions. WARNER & SWASEY CO. April 25, 1961 [May 12, 1960], No. 14880/61. Headings DID and D1F. A sliver coiler mechanism comprises a support indexably rotatable about a vertical axis and mounting single can-carrying turntables rotatable with the respective cans about vertical axes spaced angularly about the support axis. A coiler head positioned above the support delivers sliver to a can mounted on one of the turntables which is in a loading position, and a pair of drive means respectively index the support when a predetermined amount of sliver has been delivered to the can from the head and rotates the turntable. The latter drive, Figs. 2-5 (not shown) is periodically and automatically reversed to change the direction of rotation of the turntable that is in loading position. In the machine described, the drive means for the support, Figs. 6-11 (not shown) includes a pair of heart-shaped cams, Fig. 8 (not shown), fixed in vertically spaced relation for rotation about a vertical axis and angularly displaced relatively to each other about such axis, and a mounting device rotatable about a vertical axis intermediate the support and cam axes and carrying vertically spaced sets of cam followers separately engaged by a cam. Control means operates automatically when a predetermined length of sliver has been coiled into a can for operatively connecting the drive means for the support to rotate the cans for indexing the support. When the support has been indexed sufficiently to position a turntable mounting an empty can beneath the coiler head, the drive means for the support is automatically disconnected. When the support is rotated in response to filling of the last can, a feeler arm engaging with sliver protruding from the first-filled can operates a switch which closes contacts to energize the coil of a control relay (and also de-energize a holding relay) thereby opening contacts to de-energize the coil of a motor contactor and thus arrest operation of the coiler head, Figs. 10 and 11 (not shown). The apparatus shown in Fig. 1 comprises a coiler 1, having 2 containing a gill box 2<SP>1</SP> delivering "combed" sliver through nip rolls 3 to a head 4 which coils through an opening in plate 41 into a can 5 mounted, as one of three, on a support 6 which moves, as described above, to displace a filled can and replace it with an empty can, the coiler head meanwhile continuing its operation so that a length of sliver hangs over the edge of the filled can and extends to the succeeding can. A measuring device or yardage counter responsive to the revolutions of the rolls 3 and an associated control switch are housed in a box 9. Column 8 and housing 8<SP>1</SP> accommodate drive mechanisms for the support and the turntable. The sequence of mechanical operations is controlled through a system of electric switches and contacts, solenoid-operated clutches, and relays represented in Fig. 12 (not shown).
