PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable cylindrical battery in which it is prevented that when impact is added to the battery by falling or the like, a lead member connected to the interior wall in the neighborhood of an opening of a battery is bent and the bent part contacts an electrode plate of the other electrode to cause an interior short circuit. SOLUTION: In the cylindrical battery, a negative electrode lead 8 connected to a negative electrode plate 5 positioned at the outermost exterior periphery in a wound electrode 3 is connected to the inside wall of the battery can 1. In the negative electrode lead 8, the cross-section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the region connected to the inside wall of the battery can 1 is V-shaped and an angle between the V-shaped V character is 150° or less. It is prevented that by an impact of falling, the wound electrode 3 moves in the battery can 1 and that the negative lead 8 is bent toward inside to cause the short circuit.
