PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing separators which gives the surface of the release layer uneven shapes during the process to coat and dry a release agent on a substrate, improves releasability, and has an excellent productivity. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing separators includes coating an organic solvent solution of a release agent on at least one side of the substrate, forming water drops on the coated surface, removing the organic solvent by evaporation, removing the water drops by heating to drying and/or curing the release agent. Preferably, the method for forming water drops on the coated surface formed by the organic solvent solution of the release agent is either a method for causing dew condensation on the coated surface by humidification or a method for spraying water on it.
