<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a rear end of a recording medium from contacting with a recording head by floating-up of the rear end of the recording medium, when the rear end comes off from a nip, and to surely convey even a board paper sheet. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A pinch roller 2 that is a nip upstream conveying means of a conveying roller 1 and the pinch roller 2 is directed to a conveying direction of a recording sheet P, when detecting the rear end of recording sheet P. A gear 18 is rotated by a prescribed pulse number by a motor (not shown in Fig.), when detecting the rear end of recording sheet P, in a cardboard such as the board paper sheet, and a cam 18a provided in the gear 18 is rotated to move a pinch roller holder 15 toward a conveying directional upstream.
