The device (22) has a cylindrical monolithic porous structure (24), and an upstream end whose conical tubular section (36) connects an exhaust gas inlet orifice (38) with an upstream opening (32) of a cylindrical tubular envelope (30) by extending the section. The structure has a flat upstream axial end face (26) that is extended in an oblique plane with respect to a main longitudinal axis (A) of the structure to reduce an incident angle between a flow of exhaust gas entering along an inlet direction and the face for assuring homogeneous distribution of the gas on entire surface of the face.
