The device (10) has partitions (12) placed in support on a loading area (14) of a vehicle. The partitions are connected with each other using a fixation system i.e. hinge (22). The fixation system has a male element i.e. vertical rod (30), and a female element i.e. hooking tab (40), arranged on a vertical side located at ends of the partitions. The elements are interlocked with each other by sliding the partitions in a direction different from another direction in which a load retaining face (23) is subjected to force applied by a load i.e. object (18), to be retained. An independent claim is also included for a vehicle comprising a loading area whose horizontal wall supports a load.
