A hybrid supercapacitor comprises a double layer electrode, a redox electrode, current collectors, a separator and an electrolyte, in which the ratio of the volume/thickness, of the double layer electrode to the volume/thickness of the redox electrode is from 9:1 to 100:1. The ratio of capacitance per unit volume of the double layer electrode to the redox electrode can be from 1:10 to 1:20. The redox electrode can be formed of a mesoporous material. Further, the redox electrode can have a total active thickness in the range from 5 to 100 žm. The supercapacitor can be used in portable electronic products. |
