804,692. Batteries. YARDNEY INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION. March 14, 1955 [March 12, 1954], No. 7392/55. Class 53. An accumulator electrode consists of a mixture of an active material with a synthetic resin binder-shaped and cast around a supporting core. The Figures show a zinc electrode 1 having a zinc-oxide mixed with a synthetic resin sandwiching a supporting element 2. The element 2 may be a sheet material or in the form of a grid, and it may be of electrically conductive or non-conductive material. If the element 2 is made of insulating material, a conducting wire 3 is provided as shown. The larger faces of the electrode have grooves 4 to increase its surface area and to facilitate gas escape. The invention is also applicable to lead, lead-oxide, nickel and ferrocadmium electrodes. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Speciftcations 716,189 and 746,232. |
