<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate operation for performing facsimile transmission in fixed-form work and to suppress erroneous transmission. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When a destination is designated and start of facsimile transmission is instructed, a control part counts the number Cs of documents while reading images of the documents, and when the documents are read, confirms whether the number of documents is different from the reference number Es of documents or not (steps 100 to 108). When the number of documents is not different from the reference number of documents, facsimile transmission is executed without confirming the number of documents (step 110). When the number of documents is different from the reference number of documents, an image for confirming the number of documents is displayed to urge the confirmation of the number of documents, and when transmission execution is instructed, facsimile transmission is executed (steps 114, 110).
