A system for placing a microphone within a mobile computing system. At least some of the illustrative embodiments are systems comprising a microphone mounted within a chassis of a mobile computing system, a tube coupled to the microphone, the tube further comprises a slot opening at a first end of the tube that is opposite of the microphone, and the tube defines an acoustic path that enables sound to travel from the slot opening to the microphone.
