PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately input a release command to a touch panel monitor while restraining the occurrence of a blur. SOLUTION: A digital camera 10 includes: a focus lens 11f; an imaging element 12; a CPU 15; an input position detection section 16d; the touch panel monitor 16m; and an optical system drive section 18. A live view image is displayed on the touch panel monitor 16m in a photographing standby state. The input position detection section 16d detects the presence or absence of contact to the touch panel monitor 16m displaying the live view image, and a contact detection position. When the input position detection section 16d detects the contact, the CPU 15 sets the contact detection position in a focus area. The CPU 15 allows the optical system drive section 18 to displace the focus lens 11f so that focusing is performed in the set focus area.
