PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a differential device improved in maintainability and reduced in size and weight as a whole. SOLUTION: This differential device D includes: a differential case 10 rotatingly driven by a driving force from a prime mover; and a pinion shaft 2 on which differential pinions 3, 4 are rotatably supported and which is rotated integrally with the differential case 10. A carrier 5 meshes with the differential pinions 3, and pinion gears 11 mesh with a sun gear 8 and a ring gear 9. The differential pinions 4 mesh with differential side gears 6L, 6R. When the differential case 10 is engaged with the ring gear 9 by engagement elements CL, CR, the rotation of the differential case 10 is transmitted to the corresponding differential side gears 6L, 6R, and the rotation speed of the differential side gears 6L, 6R can be increased.
