<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method of optimizing the size of a contention window where a station transmits data. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An access point includes equipped with a plurality of receiving antennas includes: a minimum contention window size determining portion to determine a minimum contention window size based on the number of access stations accessing the access point and the number of the receiving antennas, a broadcasting portion to broadcast the minimum contention window size to each access station, and a receiver to receive the data transmitted from the access stations in a contention window calculated on the basis of the minimum contention window size.
