<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous paper printer which has such a configuration that continuous papers are fed back and then, printing after resuming is performed to eliminate the futile use of the continuous papers, when printing is interrupted and resumed and which always forms a high-quality image without degrading an image, even when the image which has already been fixed passes through a fixing part again, in resuming printing. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In stopping printing, a secondary transfer image passes through the fixing part 11, then, the conveyance of the continuous papers 6 is stopped and the fixing position of the fixing part 11 and the secondary transfer position of a secondary transfer part 9 are each separated. In resuming printing, the continuous papers 6 are fed back until a secondary transfer start position when printing is resumed reaches the position of a point A, the fixing part 11 is preheated up to a temperature t1, and the separation of the fixing part 11 and the separation of the secondary transfer part 9 are released. Then, the conveyance of the continuous papers 6 and the secondary transfer of a toner image 27 are resumed and the temperature t1 of the fixing part 11 rises up to a normal fixing temperature t, before the position of the point A reaches the position of a point B.
