<p>The invention relates to a so-called cutter shield in which the face is secured by means of so-called breasting. According to the invention, the breasting elements are of convex design towards the face, as a result of which they can be of lighter construction and are thus easier to manipulate, but without losing stability. The breasting elements arranged one above the other essentially secure the entire face and can be displaced individually against the face by hydraulic rams independently of the supporting frame and the driving cutters. The breasting elements consist of several segments which are arranged horizontally side by side and are connected to one another in a hinged and detachable manner by vertically directed, lockable joints.</p> |
