<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring instrument improving usability when setting the same and allowing the most use of an effective measuring range while maintaining the reliability of a measurement value. <P>SOLUTION: The measuring instrument includes: a body; a stylus movably configured relative to the body; an encoder 12 for detecting a displacement of the stylus relative to the body; a computing part 13 for computing a measurement value from the displacement detected by the encoder 12; a display part 14 for displaying the measurement value computed by the computing part 13; operation parts 15, 16 for giving a command to the computing part; and a storage part 17 for storing an effective measuring range larger than a lower limit of the movement stroke of the stylus and smaller than the upper limit. The computing part 13 determines whether or not the displacement detected by the encoder 12 is within the effective measuring range stored in the storage part 17, and displays the determined result on the display part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
