<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber capable of suppressing mode interference. <P>SOLUTION: An optical fiber 10 is provided with: a core 11; a first clad 12, which is arranged to cover the core 11 and has a refractive index lower than that of the core 11; and a second clad 13, which is arranged to cover the first clad 12 and has a refractive index lower than that of the first clad 12.
