PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method that achieves a good defatting treatment even for a raw material of greasy hide and good tannin tanning even using vegetable tannin as a tanning agent. SOLUTION: When the raw material of hide is an untreated hide obtained from a rawhide, the raw material of hide is subjected to processes including soaking, fleshing and/or dehairing, and liming. (a) As a pre-treatment process, the base of the raw material of hide is applied or sprayed with a solution including an enzyme formulation, a surfactant, and a penetrant, left to stand for a certain period of time, and then washed with hot water. (b) As the defatting process, the pre-treated raw material of hide is subjected to a stirring process using a dissolving solution including an oil component in combination with a surfactant and a penetrant. (c) After the solution is discarded, the raw material of hide is rinsed using hot water. When the raw material of hide is a tanned skin and/or recycled leather, the skin and/or leather is subjected to the processes (b) and (c).
