<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cover intrinsic defects of a biscuit-fired material, such as water leakage caused by porosity and fragility, to improve utility value of the material, and to achieve effective utilization thereof. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The coating liquid for the biscuit-fired material contains an alkoxysilane compound and a catalyst that cures and/or solidifies the silane compound, the catalyst being a hydrolyzable organic metal compound, and further a solvent is added to make the coating liquid for the biscuit-fired material. The silane compound is a silane compound represented by structural formula (1), wherein R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, and R<SP>3</SP>each may be the same or different, being a hydrogen atom or a 1C-4C alkyl group, R<SP>4</SP>is a 1C-10C alkyl group, alkenyl group, or a phenyl group, and may contain a halogen atom or an epoxy group in these groups, and n is 2-10.
