Disclosed are a Barkhausen noise inspection apparatus, and inspection method, which is able to accurately measure Barkhausen noise even if the state of contact of the sensor head with the inspection object changes; which is equipped with a sensor head (1), which possesses a excitation coil (2) that magnetizes a inspection object (30) and a sensing coil (3) that senses Barkhausen noise produced by the inspection object (30), and a power source (12), which supplies alternating current that generates an alternating current magnetic field to magnetize the excitation coil (2). A magnetic flux detecting sensor (6) is provided to detect the magnetic flux which excites the inspection object (30). A current control means (11) is also provided, which keeps the magnetic flux which excites the inspection object (30) constant by controlling the alternating current of the power source (12) based on the intensity of the magnetic flux detected by this magnetic flux detecting sensor (6).
