摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive clutch connecting and disconnecting device whose durability deterioration due to the temperature rise of a release bearing can be prevented while avoiding the contact of a spring retainer with the movable side race of a bearing. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The clutch connecting and disconnecting device comprises a CSC type hydraulic cylinder 3 for inputting cancelling operation force to a clutch mechanism 2 via the bearing 19, a spring 64 for giving preload to the bearing 19 in the direction of cancelling operation, and the spring retainer 65 supported by an inside race 62 for holding the spring 64 at its end. The hydraulic cylinder 3 has a piston 21 for integrally engaging with the inside race 62 to form an annular hydraulic chamber 23 between a clutch housing and itself. The retainer 65 is formed with a resin component for engaging with the spring 64 in opposition to the inside race 62. An annular metal member 71 between the retainer 65 and the inside race 62 has an annular shield portion 71b for encircling one end 63a of an outside race 63 at its outward side at a throttle clearance (g).
