Alkenyl acetates are prepared by contacting an olefinic compound with a homogeneous liquid phase mixture containing HOAc (optionally with a normally liquid inert organic vehicle), a Pd catalyst, LiOAc and/or KOAc, and Cu(OAc)2, the concentration of the Cu(OAc)2 being at least 10% greater than its maximum concentration in HOAc (optionally with said vehicle) at the same temperature. Examples describe the preparation of vinyl, isopropenyl, cyclohexenyl and a butenyl acetate using respectively ethylene, propylene, cyclohexene and butene. |
