In a process for the preparation of cyclohexonone-oxime by oxidation of cyclohexylamine with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of soluble salts of tungstic, molybdic or uranic acid as a catalyst, the oxidation reaction is carried out in the presence of dicyclohexylamine to obtain an addition compound of cyclohexonone - oxime - dicyclohexylamine and which is distilled to separate the oxime and the dicyclohexylamine. Preferably the molecular ratio of dicyclohexylamine to cyclohexylamine is between 0.05 to 1 and 1 to 1. The catalyst, e.g. sodium tungstate, is preferably used in the proportion of 0.1 to 5 mols per cent of the cyclohexylamine. In an example to a solution of sodium tungstate and the disodium salt of ethylene diamine tetracetic acid in aqueous methanol, hydrogen peroxide was introduced progressively together with a mixture of cyclohexylamine and dicyclohexylamine over a period of one hour the resulting crystals of the addition compound of cyclohexonone-oxime-dicyclohexylamine were distilled to separate the oxime from the dicyclohexylamine.
