<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antiseptic solution for medical equipment, which contains peracetic acid, hydrogen peroxide and acetic acid and significantly reduces a corrosive action by the antiseptic solution and a method for sterilizing medical equipment, which uses an antiseptic solution containing peracetic acid, hydrogen peroxide and acetic acid and significantly reduces a corrosive action on metal by the antiseptic solution. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The antiseptic solution has peracetic acid concentration of 0.1-0.5 mass%, a pH of ≥4.6 and <6.2 or a pH of ≥3.6 and <6.2 and acetic acid concentration of 0.5-3.5 times the peracetic acid concentration. The sterilization method includes a process for maintaining the peracetic acid concentration of antiseptic solution in the range of 0.1-0.5 mass% by adding a replenisher and a process for maintaining the pH at ≥4.6 and <6.2 by adding a pH adjuster. The sterilization method includes a process for maintaining the peracetic acid concentration of the antiseptic solution in the range of 0.1-0.5 mass% and 0.28-2 times the acetic acid concentration by adding a replenisher and a process for maintaining pH at ≥3.6 and <6.2 by adding a pH adjuster.
