PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser scanner and image forming apparatus which can reduce deterioration of image quality due to heat. SOLUTION: The laser scanner includes: a laser diode unit 31 mounting laser diodes 32a, 32b; a deflector 36 having a rotating polygon mirror 37 for deflecting and scanning the laser light emitted from the laser diodes 32a, 32b; a control board 40 to control the drive of the rotating polygon mirror 37; and an optical housing 30 to house these components. A heat dissipation duct unit 50 includes a number of air ducts 54a, 54b, and 54c and formed on the outer surface of the optical housing 30 to radiate the heat from a laser diode unit 31 which is the heat source, the deflector 36, and the control board 40 of the rotating polygon mirror 37.
