PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arc contact element for use in a gas switch, which is reduced in wear due to dropping and excellent in withstand voltage performance. SOLUTION: At least one of a fixed arc contact element and a movable arc contact element includes a slit having at least one shape of concentric circle, grating and stripe, which is provided on a substrate formed of an alloy of copper and tungusten so as to extend in the depth direction from the surface to be exposed to arc, and a boundary ridge portion between the surface to be exposed to arc and the slit is chamfered.
