PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sterilizer in a drainage ditch in which sterilizer solves the problems that the stagnant water and piled-up refuse in a drainage ditch result in the propagation of unwanted bacteria to emit a stench and create a bad sanitarily condition. SOLUTION: A grating 2 is fitted to a drainage ditch 1 via a rattling-preventing mat 4 having a press piezoelectric element incorporated therein. A sterilizing lamp 6 composed of an LED is attached to the side end of the mat 4 that is closer to the drainage ditch 1, and UV-rays are emitted from the sterilizing lamp 6 into the drainage ditch 1. A plate 14 with a photocatalyst stuck thereto is hung from the grating 2. The plate is exposed to light, so that unwanted bacteria and microbes propagating in the drainage ditch 1 are killed with the UV-rays emitted from the sterilizing lamp 6 and the photocatalyst to eliminate a stench from rotten matters etc., and soil by mold etc. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
