PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adequately and discriminatively convey sheets of regular shape to upper and lower conveying passages without inducing any damage even when the strength of the sheets in the conveying direction is very weak. SOLUTION: A discriminatively conveying apparatus includes: a lower conveyor 1 for supporting a single plate 4 to be discriminated to a lower conveying passage A from the lower side and conveying it; an upper conveyor 2 for holding a single plate 4a to be discriminated to an upper conveying passage B from the upper side in cooperation with a suction mechanism 3, and conveying it; and the suction mechanism 3 in which a suction hood 3a of the length W equivalent to the length L in the conveying direction of the single plates 4, 4a faces the hold starting part of the upper conveyor 2. In a conveying method, the single plates 4, 4a are discriminatively conveyed to the lower conveying passage A and the upper conveying passage B using the discriminatively conveying apparatus. Every time when the total single plates 4a to be discriminated to the upper conveying passage B arrive below the suction hood 3a, the single plates 4a are collectively sucked from the lower conveyor 1 to the upper conveyor 2 side through the suction mechanism 3, and discriminatively conveyed.
